The Timberline Show

We weavers at the Damascus Fiber Arts School were pretty excited about having the opportunity to exhibit our weavings at Timberline Lodge. It was sponsored by The Friends of Timberline and we were going to be lucky enough to have them hang for a month. Our tapestry teacher, Terry worked really hard to make frame/easels that would be sturdy enough to hold all our weavings and withstand the chance of being bumped into. Diane's husband Mike helped get them all together and then we all met at my house to organize and get them ready to take up the next day to hang. What a great work team. We all work so so well together. The only hitch was that we discovered we didn't have enough velcro to attach all the weavings, so Barb and I flew over to Fabric Depot and by the time we got back everything was organized and it all went very well.

Each easle was built with three sections like a soji screen.
Here Kiki and Joane adjust  panels and mark where each weaving would go.

By the time we got all the panels up to Timberline, it was quite easy to hang the weavings because each panel was marked with information as to which weaving hung where. Here Diane is securing a weaving with fishing line.

Christine's pillow, Barb's natural dye display, John's ravenstail and Shelly's baskets
grace the old glass display case that has stood in  the lodge for decades.

Our small format shoe weavings were hung down the
long hallway outside the door of the restaurant.

It was great fun putting the show all together and it was a great feeling of accomplishment by all. Linny Adamson, the Lodge curator,  joined us for a lovely lunch up in the Ram's Head Bar and then we took a few photos before heading back down the mountain.

The first view of the exhibit was the chiefs blanket, glass case and diptic.

First snowfall of the season

We received nothing but positive feedback from Lodge employees, friends and family that visited the exhibit. I could not have been more proud to have one of my weavings hanging in this historic and  world class all-season destination hotel that hosts 2 million visitors a year. I would personally like to thank everyone who had a hand in this project. It was a great success.
